Hanamikoji Street, at the heart of Gion, is one of Kyoto’s most atmospheric places. Lined with traditional wooden teahouses, it’s where geiko and maiko sometimes pass by on their way to evening engagements. I wasn’t lucky enough to see them this time, but the street itself carries the charm of old Kyoto.
