Missouri passes Trump-backed redistricting plan to help the GOP in the midterms

Opponents say the plan dilutes the power of Black voters around Kansas City and vow to block it in court or with a referendum. The governor, who's expected to sign the plan, says it reflects the state's conservative values.

A special tribute to Hawai'ian History, Culture, & Music.

First time in 20 years Hawaii’s renowned genealogical chant to be performed

At the legendary Iolani Palace, home of the last King & Queen of the Hawai'ian Islands.
I guess many will recognize this as the iconic "opening credits" scene for the longtime TV series, "Hawaii 5-0"

This is in honor of "the last Queen" Lili'ukalani

Queen Lili'uokalani

KAPOLEI (HawaiiNewsNow) - For the first time in more than 20 years, the Kumulipo, Hawaii’s renowned cosmogonic genealogical chant, will be performed in its entirety, all 2,102 lines, by five hālau in a historic cultural gathering at ʻIolani Palace.

The 2025 Kumulipo Showcase will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the Palace grounds as part of Kamaʻāina Sunday.

This rare and moving performance honors Queen Liliʻuokalani during the month of her birth and pays tribute to her enduring legacy, including her historic translation of the Kumulipo.

Known as one of the most profound expressions of ancestral wisdom, the chant traces the origins of the Hawaiian people from the birth of the universe to the genealogy of chiefs.

“Hearing the Kumulipo in its entirety is a profound gift for our lāhui. It is a chance to stand in the presence of our kūpuna, to honor our Queen, and to carry forward the wisdom that has guided our people for generations,” said Kumu Mehanaokalā Hind, senior advisor to the CEO at the Hawaiian Council and Kumu Hula.
